Obtaining Your Study Permit

If you wish to study at NFCI for more than 6 months, a study permit is required.

As the processing time varies (1 to 3 months), it is recommended that you start preparing your application as soon as possible. You must not submit your completed application until you have received your letter of acceptance from NFCI.

The main requirements are as follows:

  • Complete a study permit application
  • Proof of acceptance by the school (original letter of acceptance issued by NFCI)
  • Proof of  identity (valid passport and 4 passport-sized photos)
  • Proof of financial support and funds (proof that you can support yourself financially while you are in Canada).
  • A medical evaluation depending on your background. Medical exam by country (source: Citizenship And Immigration Canada)

Please note that an information guide provided by NFCI is available (source: Citizenship And Immigration Canada)

Note for Minors

Children under 17 years of age travelling to Canada to study without a parent or legal guardian must be in the care of a responsible adult in Canada. This person is known as a custodian. NFCI can provide a custodian for students, usually a trusted member of staff. Please see our Guardianship section for more details.
